In short
PTE 20 Sessions is a 1-month course in Auckland that builds every PTE skill from the ground up. It costs $900 NZD, all-inclusive, with several full mock tests and personal feedback. You train on a real PTE simulator at our Manukau and Papakura centres, or online. It suits students who want steady, thorough preparation rather than a last-minute crash. For NZ visas, English is a pass-or-fail requirement, and we help you clear it.
Is this course right for you?
The 20-session course gives you more time and more practice. Here is how to know if it is the right pick.
This is for you if
- You have about a month before your exam.
- You want to build every skill, not just polish one.
- You like steady progress with lots of practice and feedback.
- You are not quite at your target yet and want a solid foundation.
This may not be the best fit if
- You are already at or near your target and only need timing and polish.
- Your deadline is very close and you cannot give it a month.
- In that case, look at our PTE 10 Sessions crash course, and we will help you decide at your free assessment.
The PTE score you actually need
For your visa, English is a pass-or-fail requirement, not points. You either meet the minimum score or you do not. A higher score does not earn you extra visa points. Here are the common thresholds, set by Immigration New Zealand.
| Your pathway | PTE Academic | Same as IELTS |
|---|---|---|
| Skilled residence (main applicant) | 58 overall | 6.5 |
| Partner or child aged 16+ | 36 overall | 5.0 |
| Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) | 29 overall | 4.0 |
Immigration New Zealand treats PTE 58 and IELTS 6.5 as the same level for skilled residence. A PTE score of 79+ is only needed for some professional registration bodies and a few university programmes, not for most visas. Want the full breakdown? Read PTE 58 vs 79 for New Zealand. Rules can change, so always check the current requirement on the Immigration New Zealand website. For visa decisions, talk to a licensed immigration adviser.
Your month, week by week
Twenty focused sessions across four weeks. We diagnose, drill, mock, and review, then lift the difficulty each week until you are hitting your target with room to spare.
- Week 1 (Sessions 1 to 5): Diagnostic and foundations. Grammar refresh, pronunciation, and reading-speed drills.
- Week 2 (Sessions 6 to 10): Speaking and writing deep dives. Templates, scoring rubrics, and feedback loops.
- Week 3 (Sessions 11 to 15): Reading and listening accuracy under real time pressure.
- Week 4 (Sessions 16 to 19): Full mock tests and strategy review, closing the gap on your weakest skill.
- Session 20: Final mock, then a one-to-one test-day plan.
How the PTE Academic test works
PTE Academic is fully computer-based and takes about 2 hours in one sitting. It has three parts (Speaking and Writing, Reading, and Listening) with around 65 to 75 tasks, scored from 10 to 90. It is marked by AI, with no human interviewer. Results usually come back within about two business days, sometimes up to five, and they stay valid for 2 years.
You practise on a real PTE simulator
Across the month you sit several mocks on a PTE simulator that mirrors the real Pearson test: the same on-screen layout, the same timings, and the same AI scoring on the traits Pearson grades. Each mock gives us a full score report, so we always know which skill to drill next. Learn more on our PTE coaching page, or compare tests in PTE vs IELTS for NZ visa.
Small things we make sure you get right
A wrong detail can cost you weeks. Here is what we check with you, so your score actually counts when you apply.
- Your PTE result must be under 2 years old on the day you apply for your visa.
- Immigration New Zealand only accepts tests sat in person at a real test centre. At-home tests do not count.
- We confirm your target score with you first, so you are not aiming at the wrong number.
- You only book the real test once your simulator scores show you are ready. That saves you re-sit fees.
