We are Target Language Academy (you may also know us as Target PTE Coaching). Since 2019 we have helped students, migrants, and working professionals across Auckland turn an English goal into a real result: a university offer, a better job, or the next step on a New Zealand visa. We are people you sit beside, not a logo on a website, and when you book a free assessment you will talk to someone who actually coaches.

Why we started, and why we still do it
Target Language Academy (also Target PTE Coaching) was built in Auckland to help students, migrants, and professionals turn English goals into real outcomes: university offers, better jobs, and New Zealand visa progress. We kept meeting people who were working hard, sometimes for months, and still not getting the score they needed, and it was rarely because their English was weak.
What we saw was that most learners do not just need more English; they need the right exam strategy, consistent practice, and expert feedback that targets scoring in PTE and IELTS. So that is what we built: a place where you are coached on how the test is actually marked, you practise the way you will sit, and someone tells you honestly what to fix next. That has been the whole point since day one, and it still is.
What we are really working toward
English should never be the thing that holds you back from the life you came to New Zealand to build. You have the skills, the work ethic, and the reason for being here; the test should not be the wall in front of all of it. We want a community where a score requirement is something we help you clear with confidence, so the visa, the degree, or the job you are aiming for stays firmly within reach.

Our mission is to deliver trusted, high-quality PTE and IELTS coaching in Auckland that helps every learner build confidence, master exam strategies, and achieve the scores needed for study, work, and immigration goals. We do that through personalised training, clear learning plans, and consistent feedback, so your progress is measurable, not a vague feeling that you are "getting better".
In practice that means we start by understanding where you are, set an honest target, and check your progress against it every step of the way. You should always know what you are working on, why it matters for your score, and how close you are getting.

Get you to the exact score you need
We coach you to the result your visa, study, or registration actually requires, not an arbitrary higher number. For visas, English is a pass or fail threshold; once you clear it, you have cleared it.
Make test day feel familiar
You practise on real, exam-style mock tests under proper conditions, so when you walk into the real PTE or IELTS, nothing about it is a surprise.
Treat you as a person, not a number
Small group classes mean a tutor learns your name, your strengths, and the two or three things holding your score back, then coaches you on those.

Every session here runs hands-on. A tutor sits beside you at the computer, listening to a Describe Image attempt, re-taking a Read Aloud with live feedback, or walking through a Writing Task 2 essay line by line. That is how a real score lift happens: not through generic lectures, but through small fixes at the desk, repeated until they stick. You leave each session knowing exactly what to practise before the next one.

A calm, exam-style computer lab in Manukau and another in Papakura, set up just like the real PTE test, so test day feels familiar. Choose whichever is easier for you to get to.
