Who needs IELTS Academic in New Zealand?

IELTS Academic is required for NZ university admissions (undergrad and postgrad) and for professional registration in regulated professions such as nursing, medicine, engineering, and teaching.

What band score do I need?

Most NZ universities require band 6.0–6.5 overall for undergraduate admission and 6.5–7.0 for postgraduate. Nursing Council requires 7.0 with no band below 7.0.

How is IELTS Academic different from General?

Academic uses university-style reading passages and academic writing tasks (Task 1 = graph/chart description). General uses everyday texts and letter-writing. Speaking and Listening are the same.

What does the One Skill Retake option mean?

If you miss your target in one module only, IELTS lets you retake just that section within 60 days — cheaper and faster than re-sitting the full test.
