What is the minimum PTE score for New Zealand PR?
PTE 58 (no section below 54) — equivalent to IELTS 6.5 — satisfies every current NZ residence pathway: Skilled Migrant Category (6-point system), Straight to Residence, Work to Residence, AEWV renewals and new grants, Care Workforce, and Transport Sector Residence. Under the 6-point SMC, English works as a threshold only — higher scores do not earn additional points. PTE 79+ is only needed for some occupational registration bodies (e.g., Nursing Council NZ, Teaching Council of NZ) and a handful of NZ university programmes. See our PTE for NZ Visa page for the breakdown by visa category.
Is PTE or IELTS better for NZ immigration?
Both are accepted by Immigration New Zealand. PTE results come back in 48 hours and many find the AI-scored format more consistent. IELTS offers One Skill Retake. We coach both — book a free assessment and we'll recommend based on your strengths. Read our detailed PTE vs IELTS comparison.
How many sessions do I need to reach PTE 79?
It depends on where you're starting. Some learners close to their target hit 79+ inside a week of intensive coaching; others need two months or longer to build foundation and fluency. We run a free assessment first, then match you to a pace — our 10-session course (15 days), the 20-session programme (1 month), or continued coaching beyond. We cater to your level of competence, not a fixed timeline.
How much does PTE coaching cost in Auckland?
Our PTE 10-session course is $700 NZD. The 20-session course is $900 NZD. IELTS courses start at $800 NZD. All prices include mock tests and personalised feedback.
Where are you located?
We run classes from two Auckland centres: 639 Great South Road, Manukau City Centre (Auckland 2104) and Unit 5, 46-50 Broadway, Papakura (Auckland 2113). Open Monday–Friday 9:30am–8pm, Saturday–Sunday 11am–2pm. See the contact page for maps and directions.
Can I prepare for PTE in 2 weeks?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no — it depends on your starting band. If you're already close to 79, our 10-session crash course (15 days) can close the gap. If you're further off, pushing 2 weeks won't help — we'd recommend a longer programme instead. The free assessment tells us which camp you're in.
What is the difference between IELTS Academic and IELTS General for NZ?
IELTS Academic is for university admissions and professional registration. IELTS General Training is for immigration visas including the Skilled Migrant Category. Immigration NZ accepts both for residence applications depending on the visa type. See IELTS for NZ Visa.
Do you offer visa support after I get my score?
Yes. Target Language Academy is part of the ProVisas family. Once you have your English score, our licensed immigration advisers at ProVisas can handle your visa application — student, work, or residence.
